Climate Change Chaos…. Crunching the Numbers

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), global temperatures have already risen by about 1.1°C above pre-industrial levels, and are likely to continue to rise unless significant and sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are achieved. The IPCC has projected a range of possible future scenarios, depending on the extent to which global greenhouse gas emissions are reduced.

Under a “business-as-usual” scenario, in which emissions continue to rise, the IPCC projects that global temperatures could rise by 3°C or more by the end of the century, with significant impacts on ecosystems, human societies, and the global economy. Even under a scenario in which emissions are reduced significantly, the IPCC projects that global temperatures are likely to rise by at least 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, which is likely to have significant impacts on the planet.

It is important to note that projections and predictions are always subject to uncertainty and are dependent on a range of factors, including future technological developments, economic and political decisions, and societal behavior. However, the available scientific evidence suggests that the climate crisis is a serious and urgent challenge that requires significant action to address.
