The list above, is curated from a news clip dated May 2022 following the Uvalde Mass Shooting.

Thoughts and prayers don’t fucking work anymore, do better. Too many politicians, too many athletes and other media influencers say “my thoughts and prayers are with [city name]” without actually committing to actual action to prevent gun violence from happening in another city or town.

So many parents dread sending a child to school regardless of it being a private academy or a public school in the US, why? Because they fear the day that law enforcement calls their cell phone to say “My name is Officer [Name], and I regret to inform you that [Child’s Name] was a victim of the [School Name] school shooting today. I am so sorry for your loss”… and those words, paralyze every single parent with guilt…. The guilt of “I should’ve kept [Child Name] at home today to have a mental health day”.. or anything that traipses through their mind. That fear, ravages them. It numbs them. And they’ll never get their child back.

Gun violence is the leading cause of death in children and teenagers in the United States with 215 children killed everyday by gun violence. It’s 2023, and there’s now been more mass shootings alone than there are days of the year. It’s March. It. Is. Only. March. We are now 88 days into 2023, and there’s been more mass-shootings. This number should be a fucking red flag, but to gun-toting Republicans and the lawmakers it’s just another day in America and it shouldn’t be.

Republicans are sooooo pro life they’re willing to send their children to school to be slaughtered in a school shooting. They’re willing to use the same “we need guns to protect ourselves” when the answer isn’t guns. Guns kill. Guns snatch futures. Guns traumatize children, but oh go ban drag performances and books… fucking stupid.

Help me make this make sense, why aren’t they banning guns?! It makes my heart hurt every time there’s a new shooting.. and it doesn’t have to be this way. It shouldn’t. Kids should be able to go to school and be excited instead of dreading it… Schools are places to be safe and not a target by someone with a gun.
